Usually people who believe that Putin is dictator, also believed in 'safe and effective' mRNA jabs, double masking and other Covidiotisms, unconditionally support Ukraine, and now they believe that in addition to Putin being dictator, Trump also is one.
Its not only the media brainwashing, but they live on a bubble, mostly interact with only people that think the same or do not dare to express differing views.
But i believe that actions of Israel have split that bubble, because i have witnessed these bubble-people arguing amongst themselves about Gaza/Palestine. Even if all of them absolutely believe in that Trump&Putin are dictators, Ukraine can do no wrong, Zelensky is a saint and Covid jabs were the best thing ever, they seem to be split in the Gaza issue, some of them are 100 % convinced that all Palestinians are terrorists and Israel is in the right, while the rest of them are on the Palestinian side.
I'm so sorry you had to deal with people like that. Remember, just a few years ago in 2014, various dumpster fires masquerading as "journalism" like the Guardian, the BBC, and the New York Times were posting freely about the Nazis in Ukraine and how this might become a problem in the future, because at the time, it had nothing to do with the official narrative. Many of those articles are still up to this day.
Western liberals have no memory and no principles. It's actually shocking how completely amoral these "make love not hate" people are.
Very well done. A long article to take on board and comment suitably, but re democracy I would say democracy in the UK is much of a sham where parties go from bad to worse. Perhaps sham-bles would be better!
I thought I had seen something before about the sad affair with your Brighton friends. I worked in Brighton for several years, but it seems they might have become drugged during COVID. Perhaps they have a TV!

And it's definitely not a cult, because cults get their followers to repeat mantras and believe that certain classes of people have magical powers.
I jest, but as you noted, I have actually experienced this from real-life acquaintances and there's nothing funny about it then, especially not when children are involved. One hopes that sanity will prevail, but a lot of really indoctrinated people would have to learn some humility and critical thinking, so it seems unlikely 😳
Thank you Alistair. I do empathise with you over your friends, it is a horrible shock to face. I have not had that experience but I have university and other friends from over 40 years who seem not to have grasped the depth of the COVID scam.
